February 2008 - The hard month

In February life was pretty hard, it was cold, sad out side and everyone had gone home .... the fun times were over :( I was saved at the end of the month as I had a visitor, my grandfather! He came to see me on his way to Africa to do some more surgical work as a missionary. We only have 2 days together but it was really special. We wandered the town and went to Westminster Abbey and had a personal tour! Its was very interesting. We then went to see where Granddad studied at the Royal College of Surgeons. He knew his way around London better than I do!! It was great to see the place that he studied, and to walk the Halls and see the room in which he received his Fellowship Certificate. The best part was going into the museum at the College!! It was full of 2 floors of ‘things’ in glass jars! Skin, spines, bones, bits and pieces. It was awesome, Granddad taught me all about different surgeries, and pointed out lots of cool tools that he uses. It made me queezy but it was fascinating all the same! We have a lovely dinner with Dave on the Thames overlooking St Pauls. Good times!

Visa Debacles
It was also in Feb, the 15th of Feb to be exact, that I received the news that my workplaces original idea about my visa situation had changed. Heightened levels of stress and much work in preparing applications began. I would now need to return to Australia to be finger printed for a re-entry visa under my new work permit. We didn’t have much time for all of this so it was stressful to say the least.

During this time, Dave had left for Australia, with Bronwyn, & Rory for his brothers wedding which took place on sunny Rottenest Island. He had a great time and came back with a healthy glow! My pal leonie was in Oz at the same time and we had a new flat mate luke.

So, in light of being alone in London and all the stress that was going on I planned to go to see a friend of mine from Perth who was living in Poland

Poland
Was great! I totally needed to get out of london and get some space, peace and time to relax. Keren a friend of mine from Fusion put me up for 4 days and showed me around the town of Warclaw (pronounced vrat-swav!).

I went to Polish church, learnt a lot about the history of the place, sat in on one of Kerens English classes and LOVED! trying all the new food. Keren was a great host, and encouragement to me in a hard time

Enter 2008 - January marks 1 year in London

So enter the new year,

Being that Dav and Craig were here for Christmas the Criags parents (The Parkers) kindly extended their welcome to us Aussie lot and we crashed their New Years Eve Party. It was a great time, with lots of friend and family of theirs there, many people we have met through the wedding and also others we have grown up with! There was good times dancing to Darren and Terry’s DJ’ing, drinking champers with the girls and just seeing the New Year in with friends :)

Also, 15 January 2008 marked my 1 year anniversary in London. Crazyness.
